About Movie:

Pietà (Korean: 피에타) is a South Korean crime thriller film directed by Kim Ki-duk. It stars Lee Jung-jin and Jo Min-su. The film’s title refers to the iconic Italian sculpture Pietà, symbolizing depictions of the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus.

The film made its world premiere at the 69th Venice International Film Festival, where it won the prestigious Golden Lion, becoming the first Korean film to earn the top award at one of the world’s major international film festivals—Venice, Cannes, or Berlin.

In 2022, the Indian action film Theal, directed by Harikumar, loosely adapted Pietà to an Indian setting, offering a different cultural lens on the original story.
