Entrusted with the dangerous task of collecting evidence that American POWs are still being held captive, Rambo agrees to infiltrate the unknown zone, and before long, he finds himself double-crossed, marooned behind the enemy lines. Once, John fought for his country. Now, the government has left him for dead in a Soviet-infested land. Can Rambo fulfil his suicide mission? Will he deliver his lethal justice?
About Movie:
Rambo: First Blood Part II is an American action film directed by George P. Cosmatos, with a story by Kevin Jarre and a screenplay co-written by James Cameron and Sylvester Stallone. Stallone reprises his role as Vietnam War veteran John Rambo, with Richard Crenna returning as Colonel Sam Trautman. The cast also includes Charles Napier, Julia Nickson, and Steven Berkoff. As the sequel to First Blood (1982), it is the second installment in the Rambo franchise, followed by Rambo III (1988).
Before filming, Stallone underwent intense physical training to achieve the muscular physique that became iconic for his character.
The film was shot between June and August 1984 on location in the state of Guerrero, Mexico, and Thailand. While vacationing in Acapulco, Ron South was hired on as assistant editor and his film career began. During filming, special effects man Clifford P. Wenger, Jr. was accidentally killed during one of the film’s waterfall explosions, when he lost his footing and fell to his death.
Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, Rambo: First Blood Part II was a massive box office success, grossing an estimated $150 million in the U.S. alone, making it the second-highest-grossing domestic film and the third-highest-grossing worldwide in 1985.
The film is one of the most iconic entries in the series, inspiring numerous parodies, video games, and imitations. In 2009, Entertainment Weekly ranked it number 23 on its list of “The Best Rock-’em, Sock-’em Movies of the Past 25 Years.”
