About Sight Movie:
Sight is an American biographical historical drama film directed by Andrew Hyatt, who co-wrote it with John Duigan and Buzz McLaughlin. The film stars Greg Kinnear, Terry Chen, Danni Wang, Raymond Ma, and Bennet Wang.
The film is based on Ming Wang’s autobiography From Darkness to Sight.
This is the third notable faith-based film based on a true story that Greg Kinnear has starred in, following Heaven Is for Real (2014) and Same Kind of Different as Me (2017).
Filming for the movie started in Vancouver in April 2021 and concluded in October 2021 after a six-week shoot. The film was in development for 10 years.
Producer David E. Fischer stated that the film is 95 percent accurate to Dr. Wang’s true story. Fischer was inspired to make the movie after meeting Dr. Wang and hearing his story. The producers emphasize that the film’s message is about recognizing that there is more to life than what we see and that our past does not always define us.
In April 2023, it was reported that Briarcliff Entertainment had secured distribution rights for Sight and set a release date for October 27, 2023. Subsequently, in February 2024, Angel Studios acquired the film’s rights.
Sight was released on May 24, 2024, by Angel Studios. Sight debuted in the United States and Canada alongside Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and The Garfield Movie, with an estimated projection to earn approximately $3 million from 2,000 theaters during its four-day opening weekend.
