Storyline:
Kalaiarasan alias Kalai is a boy from a middle-class family whose only aspiration is to make it into the film industry as an actor. His father Pandian, a still photographer, is a pillar of support for his dreams as Kalai goes to various lengths to achieve this. Will Kalai achieve his ambitions and see himself on the silver screen ?
About Movie:
In June 2019, Harish Kalyan was reported to reunite with director Elan following their successful collaboration on Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (2018). The project was to be produced by Amma Creations, headed by T. Siva.
On 5 December 2020, Elan confirmed the project during an interview, revealing that Yuvan Shankar Raja would compose the score, marking their second collaboration after Pyaar Prema Kaadhal. Reports indicated that Yuvan was paid ₹6 crores for his involvement. The official title, Star, was announced on the same day, accompanied by a promotional poster.
In July 2021, reports surfaced that the film was shelved due to creative differences between Elan and Harish Kalyan. However, principal photography began on 1 June 2023 in Chennai, with half of the filming completed by 30 January 2024. The shoot concluded on 17 February 2024.
Star was released in theaters on 10 May 2024. The digital streaming rights were secured by Amazon Prime Video, while Zee Tamil acquired the satellite rights. The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 7 June 2024.
