About Sunlight Movie:
Sunlight marks Nina Conti’s feature-length debut. Nina Conti co-wrote the screenplay with comedian and frequent collaborator Shenoah Allen. The duo also co-hosts the podcast, Richard and Greta.
The film’s plot is inspired by Nina Conti’s ventriloquist act with her Monkey puppet. Vanessa Bastyan, a creature-effects specialist, built a full-size monkey suit for Conti, which she used in her stand-up performances and for the film.
Principal photography occurred in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was completed in April 2023.
Sunlight has world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on August 17, 2024
Set in New Mexico, the film is a “darkly comedic, subversive, and uniquely realized road trip” story about a monkey, a misfit radio host, and a dead man’s watch.
