Storyline:

In The Amazing Maurice, a Sky Original, Maurice is a streetwise ginger cat who comes up with a money-making scam by befriending a group of self-taught talking rats. When Maurice and the rodents reach the stricken town of Bad Blintz, they meet a bookworm called Malicia and their little con soon goes down the drain.

The Amazing Maurice is an animated fantasy comedy film directed by Toby Genkel and co-directed by Florian Westermann, from a screenplay by Terry Rossio. The film stars Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, David Thewlis, Himesh Patel, Gemma Arterton, Joe Sugg, Ariyon Bakare, Julie Atherton, Rob Brydon, Hugh Bonneville and David Tennant.

The film was announced in June 2019, with Terry Rossio writing the screenplay.

It was made during the pandemic by animation studios in Sheffield and Hamburg, with all the animators working remotely. A new pipeline was created specifically for the production. Not a day was lost from the schedule, and the film was delivered precisely on time.

The Amazing Maurice had its premiere at the Manchester Animation Festival on November 13, 2022, and was released in the United Kingdom on 16 December, by Sky Cinema. The film was released on February 3, 2023, by Viva Pictures in the United States. The film received generally positive reviews from critics.

The Amazing Maurice was released on DVD and Blu-ray by Dazzler Media (under license from Universal Pictures) on May 1, 2023.
