Storyline:

Three women share an apartment in Marseille during the middle of a heatwave. Opposite them is their mysterious neighbor, the object of all their fantasies. They become entangled in a terrifying and delirious affair, driven by a single quest: their freedom.

The Balconettes (French: Les Femmes au balcon) is a French comedy horror film directed by, co-written by, and starring Noémie Merlant. The film, which co-stars Souheila Yacoub and Sanda Codreanu, follows three young women during a heatwave in southern France.

The Balconettes is the second feature film by French actress and filmmaker Noémie Merlant, best known for her work as an actress. It follows her award-winning directorial debut, Mi Iubita Mon Amour (2021).

Principal photography for The Balconettes began on July 10, 2023, in Marseille and continued there for seven weeks. The project received financial backing from the government film funding agency CNC, along with support from Canal+ and France Télévisions. The production budget was reported to be 3.5 million euros.

The Balconettes had its world premiere on May 19, 2024, in the Midnight Screenings section, out of competition, at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The film is set for a theatrical release in France on December 11, 2024, distributed by Tandem. International sales are managed by mk2 Films.
