About Movie:
The Jungle Book is an American fantasy adventure film directed and produced by Jon Favreau. It is a live-action/CGI remake of Disney’s 1967 animated film of the same name, loosely based on Rudyard Kipling’s story collection The Jungle Book. The film stars Neel Sethi as Mowgli, the orphaned human boy who embarks on self-discovery while evading the menacing tiger Shere Khan, voiced by Idris Elba. The voice cast includes Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, and Christopher Walken.
Production Background
The film’s story was developed by Favreau, Marks, and producer Brigham Taylor to balance elements from both Disney’s animated feature and Kipling’s original works. Principal photography took place entirely in Los Angeles, commencing in 2014, and utilized extensive computer-generated imagery (CGI) to create the animals and jungle environments.
Release and Reception
The Jungle Book was released in various formats, including Disney Digital 3D, RealD 3D, IMAX 3D, and standard formats on April 15, 2016. It grossed approximately $966 million worldwide, making it the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2016. Among Disney’s live-action remakes, it ranks as the eighth-most-expensive and fifth-highest-grossing adaptation to date. The film received critical acclaim for its visual effects, performances, and direction. It won several awards for its achievements in visual effects at the 89th Academy Awards, the 22nd Critics’ Choice Awards, and the 70th British Academy Film Awards. The Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus describes it as “lovely to behold as it is engrossing to watch.” A sequel is currently in development, with Justin Marks returning as the screenwriter and Jon Favreau set to direct and produce once again.
