But the citizens of Zion, emboldened by Morpheus conviction that the One will fulfill the Oracles Prophecy and end the war with the Machines, rest all manner of hope and expectation on Neo, who finds himself stalled by disturbing visions as he searches for a course of action.
About Movie:
The Matrix Reloaded is the second installment in the Matrix franchise, written and directed by the Wachowskis as a sequel to the iconic The Matrix (1999). Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Gloria Foster return to their roles, with Jada Pinkett Smith joining the cast.
Filming took place primarily at Fox Studios in Australia, from March 1, 2001, to August 21, 2002, alongside the production of the third film, The Matrix Revolutions, and live-action footage for the video game Enter the Matrix.
General Motors provided over 300 cars for the production, all of which were destroyed for action sequences. The famous Burly Brawl scene, combining motion capture and CGI, took 27 days to film and cost $40 million, making it one of the most expensive action sequences ever produced.
The Matrix Reloaded premiered on May 7, 2003, in Los Angeles and was released worldwide on May 15, 2003, with a screening at the Cannes Film Festival. The video game accompanied the film Enter the Matrix and the animated anthology The Animatrix, which expanded its story.
While receiving generally positive reviews, many critics considered it a step down from the original. However, the film was a commercial success, grossing $741.8 million worldwide and breaking the record for the highest-grossing R-rated film, previously held by Terminator 2: Judgment Day, until Deadpool surpassed it in 2016.
It was the third-highest-grossing film of 2003, following The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and Finding Nemo. Its direct sequel, The Matrix Revolutions, followed just six months later on November 5, 2003.
