About Movie:
The Mouse Trap is a Canadian comedy horror thriller film directed by Jamie Bailey from a screenplay by Simon Phillips. The film stars Sophie McIntosh, Callum Sywyk, Allegra Nocita, Ben Harris, Mireille Gagné, Mackenzie Mills, James Laurin, Kayleigh Styles, and Jesse Masmith.
On January 1, 2024, the first animated short film starring Mickey Mouse, Steamboat Willie, entered the public domain. After the copyright lapsed, director Jamie Bailey began development on Mickey’s Mouse Trap, releasing the film’s first trailer online. This milestone also inspired several other works based on the short, such as Infestation: Origins, a Mickey-themed independent horror game.
It is the first-ever horror feature film containing Mickey Mouse, who passed into the Public Domain on January 1, 2024. The mask used in the film is actually a vintage 1960s Mickey Mouse mask, albeit repainted in black and white.
The Mouse Trap was released in North America by Gravitas Ventures via video on demand on August 6, 2024, with Blu-ray release to follow on August 13. It was originally scheduled to be released in March 2024.
