Storyline:
Jagadish (Vijay) is an army captain who arrives in Mumbai on vacation but quickly finds himself embroiled in a terrorist plot. After witnessing a devastating bomb blast on a bus, he takes it upon himself to investigate the incident and dismantle the sleeper cell responsible for the attack. As he navigates through the complexities of his mission, he engages in a cat-and-mouse game with the terrorist leader (Vidyut Jammwal), employing clever tactics to thwart their plans while also dealing with personal relationships, including his romantic interest in Nisha (Kajal Aggarwal).

Thuppakki was released on Diwali and received mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. It was praised for its engaging storyline, Vijay’s performance, and the film’s action sequences. Despite facing controversies regarding its portrayal of the Islamic community, it became a major commercial success, grossing over ₹100 crore within ten days of its release.
The film garnered several accolades and was nominated for seven Filmfare Awards South but did not win any. It was later remade in Hindi as Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014) and in Bengali as Game: He Plays to Win.
