Gromit’s concern that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his inventions proves justified when Wallace invents a ‘smart gnome’ that seems to develop an evil mind of its own. When it emerges that a vengeful figure from the past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to battle sinister forces and saves his master… or Wallace may never be able to invent again!
About Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl Movie:
Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl features characters from the Wallace & Gromit series. It is the sixth film in the franchise, following A Matter of Loaf and Death (2008), and the second feature-length film after The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005). It serves as a direct sequel to The Wrong Trousers (1993).
During production of A Matter of Loaf and Death, Nick Park expressed frustration with DreamWorks Animation’s involvement in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, citing constant demands for changes to appeal more to American children. This led him to step back from feature filmmaking for several years, with Peter Lord noting Park’s preference for the “half hour format.”
In January 2022, a new Wallace & Gromit film was announced, with Park and Merlin Crossingham as directors, a screenplay by Mark Burton, and Claire Jennings as producer.
In March 2023, the factory that produced Lewis Newplast, the modeling clay used by Aardman, closed. Aardman purchased enough clay for the new film, and while there were initial concerns about production, the studio confirmed it would find a new supplier.
The title Vengeance Most Fowl was confirmed on June 6, 2024, alongside the announcement that Feathers McGraw, the antagonist from The Wrong Trousers, would return. Richard Beek replaced Claire Jennings as the producer.
The film premiered worldwide on October 27, 2024, at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, as the closing film of AFI Fest. A limited theatrical release is scheduled for December 18, 2024, and the film will debut on Netflix globally on January 3, 2025, except in the UK, where it will air on the BBC on December 25, 2024.
