Storyline:
The world is astounded when Willy Wonka, for years a recluse in his factory, announces that five lucky people will be given a tour of the factory, shown all the secrets of his amazing candy, and one will win a lifetime supply of Wonka chocolate. Nobody wants the prize more than young Charlie, but as his family is so poor that buying even one bar of chocolate is a treat, buying enough bars to find one of the five golden tickets is unlikely in the extreme. But in movieland, magic can happen. Charlie, along with four somewhat odious other children, get the chance of a lifetime and a tour of the factory. Along the way, mild disasters befall each of the odious children, but can Charlie beat the odds and grab the brass ring?
About Movie:
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is an American musical fantasy film directed by Mel Stuart, based on Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The film stars Gene Wilder as the eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka and follows a poor boy named Charlie Bucket (played by Peter Ostrum) who wins a Golden Ticket, granting him access to Wonka’s magical chocolate factory along with four other children.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory has since become a beloved classic, particularly during the holiday season. It introduced the popular song “The Candy Man,” famously recorded by Sammy Davis Jr. The film has enjoyed repeated television airings and home video sales, leading to its selection for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2014 for its cultural significance.
