Storyline:

Abhay, an army recruit, spends his holidays in Nepal but remains in love with Kesar, a childhood love interest. He visits her village, adopting the alias ‘Laure’ to test her feelings. When he proposes, she rejects him, stating she loves another man. Heartbroken, Abhay returns to Kathmandu. Kesar soon realizes Laure is her true desire and searches for him, but she is kidnapped just as they are about to reunite. Abhay chases the kidnapper but ends up in a brutal accident. Four months later, Abhay, recovering in the hospital, decides to search for Kesar. He finds her kidnapper, Don, and his henchmen. In a fight, the villains reveal Kesar was raped and murdered the day she was kidnapped. Abhay kills the kidnapper. The film ends with Abhay injured, crying, and holding a piece of Kesar’s cloth, followed by a message about rape cases.

Kri is a Nepali romantic action drama film written and directed by Surendra Poudel, and starring Anmol K.C., Aditi Budhathoki, and Anoop Bikram Shahi in the lead roles.

Anmol K.C. charged 20 lakhs for the film Kri, making him one of Nepal’s highest-paid actors. As a pure vegetarian, it took him one and a half years to build the muscular body required for the character.

The official trailer for Kri was released on December 15, 2017, on YouTube by HighlightsNepal.

Kri was theatrically released in Nepal on February 9, 2018 (Magh 26, 2074), and worldwide on February 14, 2018. While it received mixed to positive reviews from critics and audiences, the film was praised for its cinematography, music, performances, and original plotline.

With a budget of रु 3.5 crores, it is one of the most expensive movies made in Nepal, to date. Kri collected around 75 lakhs on its first day of release and collected 2.1 crores on its second day, which is the highest single-day collection in Nepal. It collected around 6 Crores in its first week. The film ultimately grossed 8.5 crores.

As of July 2024 Kri is one of the highest-grossing Nepali movies of all time.

The movie premiered on the YouTube channel Highlights Nepal on August 16, 2019, and secured the second spot on YouTube trending.
