Now Ripley must decide where her allegiance lies.

About Movie:

Alien Resurrection is an American science fiction horror film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and written by Joss Whedon. It is the fourth installment in the Alien franchise. Sigourney Weaver returns as Ellen Ripley, alongside Winona Ryder, in a story set 200 years after the events of Alien 3 (1992). In this film, Ripley is cloned, and the United Systems Military (USM) surgically removes an Alien queen from her body. The USM plans to breed Aliens for research aboard the spaceship USM Auriga, using human hosts supplied by mercenaries. However, the Aliens inevitably escape, leading Ripley and the mercenaries to battle for survival and attempt to destroy the ship before it reaches Earth.

Supporting roles are played by Ron Perlman, Dan Hedaya, Brad Dourif, J.E. Freeman, and Michael Wincott. The film had its premiere in Paris on November 6, 1997, and was released to the public on November 12. While it grossed $161 million worldwide, it was the least successful Alien film in the U.S. and Canada, earning $47.8 million domestically.

The film received mixed reviews. Critics praised Weaver’s performance and Jeunet’s direction, but the screenplay by Whedon faced criticism. Alien Resurrection was nominated for six Saturn Awards, including Best Science Fiction Film, Best Actress for Weaver, Best Supporting Actress for Ryder, and Best Direction for Jeunet.

Although Whedon had written a script for Alien 5, Sigourney Weaver was uninterested in the Earth-based setting, and further sequels were abandoned in favor of the Alien vs. Predator crossover series and the prequel films like Prometheus (2012). The Resurrection storyline was later continued in comic books and novels.
