Storyline:

Over ten years have passed since the first machine called The Terminator tried to kill Sarah Connor and her unborn son, John. The man who will become the future leader of the human resistance against the Machines is now a healthy young boy. However, another Terminator, called the T-1000, is sent back through time by the supercomputer Skynet. This new Terminator is more advanced and more powerful than its predecessor and its mission is to kill John Connor when he’s still a child. However, Sarah and John do not have to face the threat of the T-1000 alone. Another Terminator (identical to the same model that tried and failed to kill Sarah Connor in 1984) is also sent back through time to protect them. Now, the battle for tomorrow has begun.

About Movie:

Terminator 2: Judgment Day is an American science fiction action film directed by James Cameron, co-written with William Wisher. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Robert Patrick, the film is the sequel to The Terminator (1984) and the second installment in the Terminator franchise.

Despite the success of The Terminator, progress on a sequel was delayed due to conflicts between Cameron, Schwarzenegger, and Hemdale Film Corporation, which co-owned the rights. In 1990, Carolco Pictures acquired the rights, setting the stage for production. Cameron and Wisher had only seven weeks to draft the script.

Principal photography ran from October 1990 to March 1991 in Los Angeles, with a then-record-breaking budget of $94–102 million. The film’s groundbreaking visual effects, produced by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), included the first fully computer-generated character in a major film, leading to production delays. The movie premiered on July 3, 1991, with prints delivered to theaters the night before release.

Terminator 2 became a critical and commercial triumph, grossing $519–520.9 million globally, making it the highest-grossing film of 1991 and the third-highest of all time at the point. The film garnered numerous awards, including Saturn, BAFTA, and Academy Awards, while also spawning extensive merchandise like video games, comics, and the T2-3D: Battle Across Time attraction.

Regarded as one of the greatest science fiction, action, and sequel films, Terminator 2 is seen as pivotal in the evolution of visual effects, marking the shift from practical to computer-generated imagery (CGI). In 2023, it was selected for preservation by the U.S. Library of Congress in the National Film Registry.

Despite Cameron’s intent for Terminator 2 to conclude the series, it inspired sequels including Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator Salvation (2009), Terminator Genisys (2015), Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), and a 2008 television series.
