Storyline:
This Christmas season, the Brenner brothers are older and seemingly wiser since the viewing audience last saw them, they all having moved out of mother Barbara’s house. With Thomas now in kindergarten, Luke wants to focus more of his energies on him while still maintaining his professional duties in now being fire chief. Stephan has moved on from animals now having written a book on human therapy, with he in a relationship with Susie. And Taylor has developed his latest video game for which he is trying to get investors to get it to market. But those items mask some problems still in their lives as Tay convinces them all to move back into Barbara’s house if only for the week leading up to Christmas, he doing so for ulterior motives. It is good timing for Barbara as she has some important news for them: there is a new man in her romantic life, Roy, a pastor. While this news sits uneasy for all the brothers, it may be so for Luke most specifically in losing the alpha male status in his mother’s life. On top of other things going on in their collective lives, the brothers are forced to take over the K-5 Christmas pageant at Thomas’ school in they being the cause for it otherwise being canceled. With the experienced half of their cast now having dropped out of the production, they have to make it a memorable experience, hopefully to the Christmas spirit, for Thomas and his equally shy classmates who are less comfortable in the spotlight than those students who dropped out. In the process, Tay can’t help but focus his attentions on Caroline, the volunteer musician who is seemingly a more polished version of himself.
