Storyline:

Set in the Faubourg à m’lasse district of Montreal, Quebec, in the 1950s, the film centers on a conflict between the Roman Catholic Church and a young team of baseball players.

Michel Paquette, 12 ans, atteint de polio foxe la messe du dimanche pour lire de la poésie aux éditions St-Amour et fille. Son vieux compagnon, Archange St-Amour, souffrant de parkinson a besoin de Michel pour l’aider à typographier Vive le Québec Laïque, un pamphlet anticlérical dans le Québec de la grande noirceur. Le pamphlet scandalise le clergé. La vengeance de l’Église n’est rien comparée à celle qui bouillonne chez Michel et ses amis. Les jeunes font les 400 coups en défiant l’ordre clérical et risquent le tout pour le tout pour leur quête d’un Québec laïque et égalitaire.

Production of the film began in 2023. The film had previously served as the working title for Forcier’s 1994 movie The Wind from Wyoming (Le Vent du Wyoming).
The film had its world premiere on August 4, 2024, as the closing film of the 28th Fantasia International Film Festival, before its commercial release on August 23, 2024. Director Forcier was also honored with Fantasia’s Prix Denis-Héroux for his overall career achievements in Quebec cinema. The film is additionally slated to screen as the opening film of the Les Percéides Film Festival.
