Storyline:

“Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful, and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

About Beauty and the Beast Movie:

Beauty and the Beast is an American romantic fantasy adventure film produced by Walt Disney Pictures with Mandeville Films. The film was directed by Bill Condon from a screenplay by Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos.

It is a live-action/animated remake of Disney’s 1991 animated film Beauty and the Beast, itself an adaptation of Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont’s version of the fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast”.

The film stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens as Belle and the Beast, respectively. It features a supporting ensemble cast including Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Audra McDonald, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thompson.

The live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast was first announced in April 2014, with Condon attached to direct. The cast members signed on between January and April 2015. With an estimated production budget of around $255 million, it is one of the most expensive films ever made.

Ryan Gosling was offered the role of the Beast but turned it down to star in La La Land (2016) instead. Emma Watson was offered the lead role in La La Land but declined to star in Beauty and the Beast. La La Land won several Oscars, including Best Actress for Emma Stone, who accepted the role Watson passed on.

Principal photography of the film on May 18, 2015, at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England, and nearby locations, including Cranleigh and Lacock, Wiltshire. Filming was completed on August 21, 2015.

This marks Emma Watson’s Disney debut and her first musical. It also marks Dan Stevens’, Luke Evans’, Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s and Sir Ian McKellen’s Disney debut, as well.

Alan Menken, who scored Beauty and the Beast (1991), returned to score this live-action adaptation, which includes new recordings of the original songs, in addition to new songs written by Menken and Tim Rice.

Belle’s ballroom gown required 3,000 feet of thread, and over 12,000 designer hours to complete. It was accentuated with 2,160 Swarovski crystals.

Beauty and the Beast had its world premiere at Spencer House in London on February 23, 2017, followed by its US premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on March 2. The film was released theatrically in the United States on March 17, 2017, in standard, Disney Digital 3-D, RealD 3D, IMAX, IMAX 3D, and Dolby Cinema formats. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its cast, songs, and visual detail.

Beauty and the Beast grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2017 and one of the highest-grossing films of all time. It is also the second-highest-grossing live-action remake by Disney. The film received several accolades, including nominations for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design at the 90th Academy Awards.

Emma Watson received $3 million upfront for her role in Beauty and the Beast, but ultimately earned $15 million due to the film’s global box office success, grossing over $1 billion.
