Kendall Jenner Early Life and Education:

Kendall Nicole Jenner was born on November 3, 1995, in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of former Olympic decathlete champion Caitlyn Jenner (then known as Bruce Jenner) and television personality and businesswoman Kris Jenner (née Houghton). Jenner’s middle name was a tribute to Kris’ best friend Nicole Brown Simpson, who was murdered just before Jenner was conceived.

Jenner has a younger sister, Kylie, and eight older half-siblings. From Caitlyn’s side of the family, she has three older half-brothers―Burt, Brandon, and Brody Jenner―and one older half-sister Casey Marino. From Kris’ side of the family, Jenner has three older half-sisters―Kourtney, Kim, Khloé―and one older half-brother Rob Kardashian.

Jenner was raised with her sister and the Kardashians in Calabasas, an upscale suburb west of Los Angeles. Jenner attended Sierra Canyon School before switching to homeschooling in order to pursue modeling. She graduated in 2014. In May 2014, Jenner purchased a two-bedroom, 2.5-bath condominium in Los Angeles for US$1.4 million.

Kendall Jenner Career:

Television career

In 2007, Kris Jenner, the mother of Kendall Jenner, initiated discussions with Ryan Seacrest to develop a reality television show centered around her family. Seacrest, with his production company, saw potential in the concept, drawing inspiration from the success of The Osbournes. Consequently, the show was picked up by E! cable network, with Kris Jenner as the executive producer. Premiering on October 14, 2007, Keeping Up with the Kardashians showcased the lives of Kendall, her parents Kris and Caitlyn (formerly Bruce), and siblings Kylie, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob.

The series garnered immense success, spawning spin-offs like Kourtney and Kim Take Miami (2009) where Kendall made guest appearances, and Kourtney and Kim Take New York (2011) where she featured as a recurring cast member. Additionally, Kendall appeared in Khloe & Lamar (2011), focusing on Khloe Kardashian’s relationship with Lamar Odom. E! announced Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons in 2014, further exploring the family dynamics.

Kendall’s younger sister, Kylie, became the central figure in the spin-off Life Of Kylie (2017). However, in 2021, the family announced the end of Keeping Up With the Kardashians after twenty seasons.

In April 2022, the family returned to television with a new reality show, The Kardashians, on Hulu. The show features Kendall, her sisters Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Kylie, along with their mother Kris, and past and present partners including Scott Disick, Travis Barker, Tristan Thompson, and Corey Gamble, with Kanye West making guest appearances. The first season premiered on April 14, 2022, with subsequent seasons following in 2022 and 2023, continuing the family’s legacy on the small screen.

Modeling career

Kendall Jenner’s journey in the modeling industry commenced at the tender age of 13, when she was signed by Wilhelmina Models on July 12, 2009. Under the direction of cinematographer Nick Saglimbeni, Jenner embarked on her modeling career, with her inaugural assignment being the Rocker Babes with a Twist campaign for Forever 21 in December 2009 and January 2010.

As her career progressed, Jenner’s portfolio expanded significantly, gracing the covers of various publications including American Cheerleader, Teen Prom, and GenLux, among others. She also ventured into high fashion, collaborating with renowned brands such as Chanel, Givenchy, and Fendi. In November 2014, Jenner’s affiliation with Estée Lauder further solidified her position in the industry.

In subsequent years, Jenner’s influence and success soared to unprecedented heights. In 2017, Forbes named her the world’s highest-paid model, dethroning Gisele Bündchen after 14 years of dominance. Kendall continued to make waves in the fashion world, securing lucrative contracts with Calvin Klein and Penshoppe.

Beyond traditional modeling, Jenner’s ventures extended to collaborations with brands like Mango and París, as well as a foray into fragrance with By Far’s debut fragrance, Daydream, in 2022.

Despite occasional controversies, such as her La Perla campaign conflicting with a previously scheduled Victoria’s Secret appearance in 2017, Jenner’s star continued to rise, cementing her status as one of the most influential and sought-after models in the world.

Business career

Kendall Jenner’s entrepreneurial endeavors extend far beyond the realms of modeling, with ventures spanning fashion, beauty, and lifestyle industries. In 2011, Jenner collaborated with Nicole by OPI to create two signature nail lacquers as part of the Kardashian Kolors nail polish line, garnering significant endorsement profit. Subsequently, she and her sister Kylie assumed the role of Creative Directors for the Gillette Venus Gets Ready webisode series in 2012.

The dynamic duo further diversified their portfolio with the creation of the Metal Haven jewelry collection in partnership with Glamhouse in 2013. In 2014, they ventured into the fashion realm with a shoe and handbag line under Steve Madden’s Madden Girl label. Their collaboration with PacSun, The Kendall & Kylie Collection, debuted in 2013, followed by a collaboration with Topshop in 2015.

Expanding their digital footprint, Kendall and Kylie launched paid subscription mobile app websites in collaboration with Whalerock Industries in 2015, earning Jenner a nomination for a Webby Award. They also developed the Kendall and Kylie app with Glu Mobile in 2016.

However, not all ventures have been without controversy. In 2017, the sisters faced backlash for releasing “vintage” T-shirts featuring images of famous musicians without permission, leading to cease and desist letters and a copyright infringement lawsuit.

Jenner’s foray into entrepreneurship continued with partnerships with Moon oral-care brand and Proactiv in 2019. In 2020, she collaborated with her sister Kylie Cosmetics to launch Kendall Jenner x Kylie Cosmetics, followed by a limited edition stain-removal toothpaste in collaboration with Moon and designer Heron Preston.

In a bold move in February 2021, Jenner announced her venture into the spirits industry with the upcoming launch of “818 Tequila.” The brand officially debuted on May 21, 2021, marking a significant milestone in Jenner’s entrepreneurial journey.

Kendall Jenner Personal Life (Boyfriend):

Kendall Jenner began dating NBA player Blake Griffin in the summer of 2017. The pair broke up in April 2018. Jenner was in an on-again-off-again relationship with NBA player Ben Simmons from June 2018 to February 2020. From June 2020 to October 2022, Jenner was in a relationship with NBA player Devin Booker.

In November 2020, Jenner faced large public criticism after having a birthday party with a hundred plus attendance during the coronavirus pandemic. The party was attended by many celebrities, including Justin and Hailey Bieber, the Weeknd, and Winnie Harlow, despite Los Angeles County having a stay-at-home order in effect. Jenner’s mother responded to the criticism, telling Andy Cohen, “we are really responsible, and we make sure that everyone in our family and our closest friends are tested religiously. So, you know, we do what we can, we, we try to follow the rules.”

Kendall Jenner Public Image:

Jenner was named as one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in the world on April 9, 2014. Time magazine named the Jenner sisters as two of the 30 Most Influential Teens 2014 and 2015. On December 16, 2014, Google named Jenner as the second most Googled model in the world. Jenner debuted at No. 2 on FHM’s annual 100 Sexiest Women in the World list at the end of April 2015. Tumblr named Jenner as its most reblogged model for 2015. In November 2017, Forbes listed Jenner as the No.1 highest-paid model in the world.

Jenner’s rapid rise in her career caught the attention of Dazed magazine’s editors, who named her “top creative to watch out for” in 2015 on their annual Dazed 100 list. In collaboration with the magazine, Jenner created a Mean Girls-inspired “Burn Book” parody video as a response to her online critics and industry detractors, which was later shortlisted for the Lovie Awards in September 2015.

Her success as one of the “Instagirls” has contributed to a significant reevaluation of the relationship between fashion and social media. Jenner’s ability to connect with Millennials online has provided her with access to a broad demographic market and enabled her to further segment her fan base to find ideal clients. Her endorsement of designer Sally LaPorte’s line helped the designer identify characteristics of her ideal buyers.

Jenner’s influence has also been recognized by brands like Calvin Klein, whose collaboration with her led to a substantial increase in net sales and revenue. Other brands, such as Dear Frances footwear and Magnum ice cream, have adjusted their promotional strategies to include high-profile influencers like Jenner.

Tech entrepreneur Frank Spadafora’s D’Marie app, designed to measure the monetary impact of fashion influencers, ranked Jenner as the #1 fashion influencer across all categories. This ranking indicates her ability to earn significant sums, ranging from $125,000 to $300,000, for a single update to her social media platforms.

In 2017, Kendall Jenner was paid $275,000 for an Instagram post promoting the Fyre Festival, where G.O.O.D. Music artists were set to perform. Despite receiving compensation, the post wasn’t labeled as an advertisement, contravening FTC regulations. Fyre Festival, a fraudulent event organized by Billy McFarland and Ja Rule, faced severe backlash following exposés by Netflix and Hulu. Jenner later apologized, citing the inherent risk in endorsing new ventures. Subsequently, Jenner and other influencers associated with the festival were sued for their involvement, with Jenner settling for $90,000 in the bankruptcy proceedings.
