About Casino Royale Movie:
Casino Royale is an action-adventure spy thriller film directed by Martin Campbell from a screenplay by Neil Purvis, Robert Wade, and Paul Haggis. It is the twenty-first in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions, and the third screen adaptation of Ian Fleming’s 1953 novel of the same name.
The film stars Daniel Craig in his first appearance as Bond, alongside Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Judi Dench, Giancarlo Giannin, Jeffrey Wright, Tobias Menzies, Isaach de Bankolé, and Simon Abkarian.
The announcement of Daniel Craig as the new James Bond was made on October 14, 2005, aboard H.M.S. President, in London. On that day, former James Bond Sir Roger Moore was celebrating his seventy-eighth birthday.
Principal photography for Casino Royale commenced on January 3, 2006, and concluded on July 20, 2006. The film was primarily shot at Barrandov Studios in Prague, with additional locations shooting in the Bahamas, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The shoot concluded at Pinewood Studios.
Daniel Craig initially rejected the part of James Bond, feeling that the series had settled into a standard formula. However, he changed his mind after reading the finished script.
According to Daniel Craig, the only CGI in this movie was to erase safety wires in a lot of the stunt sequences, and to integrate the models for the sinking palazzo into the real Venetian location.
Most of the cars seen in the movie are made by Ford Motor Company. In the scene where Bond acts as a valet, the cars in the parking lot are Land Rovers, Volvos, Jaguars, and other Ford Motor Company vehicles.
It is the first James Bond movie since Licence to Kill (1989) to be based on a story or have story elements written by Ian Fleming.
Casino Royale premiered at the Odeon Leicester Square on November 14, 2006, and was theatrically released first in the United Kingdom on November 16, and in the United States a day later. The film received critical acclaim, with praise for Craig’s reinvention of the character and its departure from the tropes of previous Bond films.
Daniel Craig became the first actor to be nominated for a BAFTA (British Academy) Award for playing James Bond.
The film grossed over $616 million worldwide, becoming the fourth highest-grossing film of 2006 and the highest-grossing James Bond film until the release of Skyfall (2012). A sequel, Quantum of Solace, was released in 2008.
This is the first official James Bond movie to be co-produced by Columbia Pictures, owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment. This is a result of Sony’s acquisition of MGM, along with Bond rights co-owner United Artists. Columbia Pictures had originally co-produced and distributed Casino Royale (1967).
