Monkey Man
Monkey Man is an upcoming action thriller film directed by Dev Patel and starring Patel, Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sikandar Kher, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, and Makarand Deshpande. On October 29, 2018, it was reported that Dev Patel would make his directorial debut with an action thriller film titled Monkey Man. According to reports Dev Patel suffered several injuries during the filming of the movie which included a broken hand, two broken toes, a torn shoulder, and an eye infection.
On March 12, 2021, it was announced that filming was completed and Netflix had bought worldwide rights to the film, described as “John Wick in Mumbai.” The film was originally meant to be released straight-to-streaming on Netflix until Jordan Peele saw the film and, feeling that it deserved a theatrical release instead, acquired it from Netflix under his Monkeypaw Productions banner, which has a distribution deal with Universal Pictures. Monkey Man is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 5, 2024, by Universal Pictures.

Set in 1973, the story follows a married couple, Daphne and Darcy Davenport, who move to an isolated cabin in Wales to complete their new record. When they capture a mystical sound during their recordings, a strange child enters their lives, leading them into a world where ancient spirits collide with reality. Currently, the film is in the post-production phase, and the makers have not yet confirmed the release date.
