About Movie:
Easy A is a 2010 American teen romantic comedy directed by Will Gluck and written by Bert V. Royal. The film stars Emma Stone, alongside Penn Badgley, Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson, Thomas Haden Church, Dan Byrd, Lisa Kudrow, Aly Michalka, Malcolm McDowell, and Amanda Bynes in her final acting role.
The screenplay, partially inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, was reportedly written by Royal in just five days, excluding the final ten pages.
Emma Stone improvised the famous line about being a “Gossip Girl in the Sweet Valley of Traveling Pants,” according to Gluck. The film was shot entirely on location in Ojai, California, during the summer of 2009. No film sets were used, with real Ojai homes and Nordhoff High School serving as the backdrop. Even the end credits were filmed on Fordyce Road in Ojai.
Released on September 17, 2010, Easy A received positive reviews, with particular praise for Stone’s performance. The film was a major financial success, grossing $75 million worldwide on a budget of $8 million. Stone earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, and the film won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Comedy.
Easy A is ranked 14th on Entertainment Weekly’s 2021 list of the Best High School Movies.
