Storyline:
Emergency is based on true events that unfolded in 1975. The film chronicles incidents that took place under the leadership of Mrs Indira Gandhi, one of the most Powerful Women in Indian History.

Emergency is an upcoming Hindi biographical political historical drama film directed and co-produced by Kangana Ranaut. The film is based on an emergency period in India between 1975-1977 announced by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The film stars Kangana Ranaut as the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. It also features Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles.
Kangana Ranaut, who plays the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was herself elected as a member of the Indian parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party, representing Mandi in her native state of Himachal Pradesh, in the 2024 Indian General Elections.
Emergency marks the posthumous film of Satish Kaushik, following his passing on March 8, 2023.
The film was announced by Kangana Ranaut on July 14, 2022, with a teaser. Principal photography began in July 2022 and concluded in January 2023. The trailer for the movie was released on August 14, 2024, by Zee Studios.
Initially announced for an October–November 2023 release, the film was rescheduled to release on June 14, 2024. However, it was postponed again due to the Lok Sabha elections.
Emergency was initially scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, but it has been postponed after failing to clear the censorship requirements of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
