Storyline:

In an underworld of weapons dealers and traffickers, a young boy becomes the pawn in a war between notorious drug lords. Extraction is an American action thriller directed by Sam Hargrave in his feature debut, with a screenplay by Joe Russo. Based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Fernando León González, and Eric Skillman, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda (in his international film debut), Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and David Harbour.

Development of the film was announced in 2018, as the Russo Brothers aimed to adapt the 2014 graphic novel for the screen. While the film diverges in some aspects from the source material, the core narrative remains intact.

Released by Netflix on April 24, 2020, Extraction garnered mixed reviews but became Netflix’s most-watched original film, attracting over 99 million viewers within the first four weeks.

A sequel, Extraction 2, featuring the returning main cast, was released on June 16, 2023.
