About Frozen Movie:

Frozen is an American animated adventure fantasy film directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. It is Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s 1844 fairy tale “The Snow Queen”. The film stars the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, and Santino Fontana.

Frozen marks the directorial debut of Jennifer Lee and is Walt Disney Animation’s 53rd animated feature film.

Development of the film began in 2008, and it was announced by Disney on December 22, 2011. A month later, it was confirmed that the film would be a computer-animated feature in stereoscopic 3D, instead of the originally intended hand-drawn animation, due to complex elements in the script requiring strong visuals. Elsa’s castle needed at least 50 animators to create.

Jennifer Lee became the first woman to direct a full-length Disney animated feature film and the first woman to solely write an entire screenplay for a Disney animated film since Linda Woolverton for Beauty and the Beast (1991).

Frozen had its world premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on November 19, 2013. The film was theatrically released on November 27, 2013. It was praised for its visuals, screenplay, themes, music, and voice acting, and some critics consider Frozen Disney’s best-animated film since the studio’s Renaissance era.

Frozen II, a feature-length sequel, was released on November 22, 2019.

Frozen grossed over $1.280 billion in worldwide box office revenue, becoming the highest-grossing animated film until the remake of The Lion King surpassed it in August 2019. It finished its theatrical run as the highest-grossing film of 2013 and the fifth-highest-grossing film of all time.

Frozen is the first Walt Disney Animation Studios film to gross a billion dollars worldwide. It is also Disney’s tenth computer-animated film to release in November after Toy Story (1995), A Bug’s Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999), Monsters, Inc. (2001), The Incredibles (2004), Chicken Little (2005), Bolt (2008), Tangled (2010), and Wreck-It Ralph (2012).

The film won Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, and two Grammy Awards. This is the first Walt Disney Animation Studios film to win of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

Frozen Sequels and planned sequels:

Frozen II, a feature-length sequel, was released on November 22, 2019. It outgrossed the first film at the box office and received positive responses from critics and audiences. A 2019 book, Frozen 2: Forest of Shadows, set between the two films, explains that Arendelle has become a favorite destination for immigration worldwide.

As of 2023, two Frozen sequels are in development. Josh Gad is set to reprise his role as Olaf in the third film, and Jennifer Lee has confirmed she will not direct the sequels. In February 2024, Bob Iger stated, “We’re already looking forward to 2026 and beyond with Frozen 3, the first Toy Story movie since 2019, and a new Star Wars movie that brings The Mandalorian and Grogu to the big screen for the very first time.”
