The film is currently the highest user-rated film on IMDb with a score of 9.4/10 based on 165k votes. While becoming the first Indian film to achieve the feat, it surpassed the ratings of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and The Godfather (1972). It was also IMDb’s most popular Indian film of the year.

The film was released on Amazon Prime Video, prior to Diwali, on 2 November 2021, as part of a multi-film deal signed by 2D Entertainment. Jai Bhim became the most-searched film of 2021 in India on Google. It was also fourth in the list of films that were tweeted about most in 2021, according to a report published by Twitter. Several publications including The Indian Express, The News Minute, Hindustan Times, Firstpost, and India Today, listed Jai Bhim as one of the best Tamil films of 2021.

Jai Bhim is based on a true incident in 1993, which involves a case fought by Justice K. Chandru, it revolves around the lives of Sengeni and Rajakannu, a couple from the Irular tribe. Rajakannu was arrested by the police and was later missing from the police station. Sengeni seeks the help of an advocate Chandru to seek justice for her husband. Chandru files a habeas corpus case and he refers Rajan case to continue further to find the truth.

2. Shershaah

Shershaah is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra-awardee Captain Vikram Batra, from his first posting in the army to his death in the Kargil War. The film is directed by Vishnuvardhan, stars Sidharth Malhotra as Vikram Batra and Kiara Advani as his girlfriend Dimple Cheema.

Shershaah IMDb rating is 8.7 out of 10 based on 111 thousand votes. The film premiered on 12 August 2021 on Amazon Prime Video, and it became Amazon Prime India’s most-watched film.

Another biographical movie Sardar Udham based on the life of Udham Singh, a freedom fighter from Punjab who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in London to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar.

Sarpatta Parambarai Tamil movies directed by Pa. Ranjith, stars Arya, John Kokken, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Dushara Vijayan, Pasupathy, Anupama Kumar and Sanchana Natarajan. Set in the 1970s, the film revolves around a clash between two clans namely Idiyappa Parambarai and Sarpatta Parambarai in North Chennai, which also showcases the boxing culture in the locality and also the politics being involved in it.

However, four days before the release, the platform JioCinema released the film earlier for a few minutes on 26 July 2021 and resulting in online piracy as it was made available for torrent sites and illegal movie streaming platforms. To counter piracy, both Netflix and JioCinema premiered the film on the same date instead of 30 July.
