About Movie:
Kingsman: The Secret Service is a spy action comedy directed by Matthew Vaughn, marking the first entry in the Kingsman film series. It is based on the comic book series of the same name by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, with Vaughn co-developing the concept. The film stars Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Taron Egerton, and Michael Caine.
Filming commenced on October 6, 2013, in Deepcut, Surrey, with a reported budget significantly lower than the $200 million used for Skyfall. Key filming locations included the Alexandra Road Estate in Camden for Eggsy’s home, Imperial College London, the Black Prince Pub in South London for various fight scenes and car chases, and Savile Row, Mayfair, where the iconic tailor shop scenes were shot, with Huntsman providing the costumes.
The film premiered at the Butt-Numb-A-Thon festival on December 13, 2014, and was theatrically released in the UK on January 29, 2015, and in the US on February 13, 2015. It received generally positive reviews, praised for its stylized action, direction, performances, and dark humor, though some criticized its over-the-top moments. With a worldwide gross of over $414 million, it became Vaughn’s most commercially successful film at that time. It also won the Empire Award for Best British Film in 2015.
The film spawned a sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), and a prequel, The King’s Man, released in December 2021.
