Storyline:

A 21-year-old boy named Sunny comes to the city on a murder contract. But he also has a penchant for sexually assaulting and murdering young girls. When he locks horns with Shivani Shivaji Roy, the newly appointed Chief of the city police, a thrilling cat-and-mouse hunt begins. Will Shivani manage to nab Sunny, or does she end up being one of his many victims?

About Mardaani 2 Movie:

Mardaani 2 is a Hindi action crime thriller film written and directed by Gopi Puthran and produced by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films. It is a direct sequel to the 2014 film Mardaani. Rani Mukerji reprising her role of police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy from the previous film.

The film was announced on December 10, 2018, via a social media post. Filming began on March 27, 2019, and was extensively conducted in Rajasthan. The first look was unveiled in April 2019, and the release date was announced in September 2019.

In the film, Rani Mukerji had to shoot an underwater scene, which required her to overcome her fear of swimming. She took swimming lessons and successfully overcame her fear for the role.

Mardaani 2 was released on December 13, 2019, with a generally positive response towards its screenplay, pace, direction, and performances (particularly those of Mukerji and Jethwa).

The film performed successfully at the box office. The film’s opening day net domestic collection was ₹3.80 crore. Over the next two days, it earned ₹6.55 crore and ₹7.80 crore respectively. It grossed ₹67.12 crore worldwide, consisting of ₹56.63 crore from India and ₹10.49 crore from overseas.

Following the success of Mardaani 2, the production house announced in December 2019, a possible third installment in the Mardaani series, titled Mardaani 3. It was also announced that Rani Mukerji is set to reprise her role of Shivani Shivaji Roy.
