Storyline:
A look-alike commoner is secretly hired to take the place of a poisoned king to save his country from falling into chaos.
About Masquerade Movie:
Masquerade (Korean: 광해: 왕이 된 남자) is a South Korean period drama film directed by Choo Chang-min and written by Hwang Jo-yoon. The film stars Lee Byung-hun, Ryu Seung-ryong, Han Hyo-joo, Jang Gwang, Kim In-kwon, and others.
The film was initially set to be directed by Kang Woo-suk and star Jung Jae-young, but Kang left due to creative differences with production firm CJ E&M. In November 2011, Choo Chang-min replaced Kang as director, and Lee Byung-hun joined as the lead actor in his first historical film.
The film was announced in early 2011 and was initially titled I am the King of Joseon. It was shot at the Namyangju Studio Complex in Gyeonggi Province.
Masquerade was released theatrically on September 13, 2012 by CJ Entertainment. With 12.3 million tickets sold, Masquerade is the ninth highest-grossing South Korean film. Also, it swept the 49th Grand Bell Awards, winning in 15 categories, including Best Film, Director, Screenplay, and Actor.
