About Midas Man Movie:
Midas Man is an upcoming British biographical musical drama film directed by Joe Stephenson and written by Brigit Grant. The film is about the life of music entrepreneur Brian Epstein, who managed The Beatles from 1961 until his death in 1967.
The film stars Jacob Fortune-Lloyd stars in the lead role, alongside Emily Watson, Eddie Marsan, Omari Douglas, Darci Shaw, Ed Speleers, Charley Palmer Rothwell, Bill Milner, Jay Leno, and Blake Richardson. Darci Shaw replaced the originally cast Rosie Day as Cilla Black.
In July 2020, Jonas Ã…kerlund was announced to direct. The scheduled 12-week filming starting in Liverpool on October 11, 2021, was interrupted when director Ã…kerlund exited the project in November, causing a three-week pause. Despite this, a statement announced that production would resume in London later that month and then shift to Los Angeles in early January 2022.
Sara Sugarman was hired as Ã…kerlund’s replacement, with no reshoots expected to take place, and filming scheduled to start again soon. Filming ended up being on hiatus for over a year, before finally taking place in May 2023 in Blackpool. The following month, it was reported that Joe Stephenson had taken over as director from Sugarman, who reportedly left due to scheduling issues and creative differences. Principal photography was completed by Stephenson.
On May 30, 2024, Midas Man holds its Canadian premiere at the 32nd Toronto Jewish Film Festival. It was shown as the opening night film. Studio POW and American Entertainment Investors sold North American distribution rights to Briarcliff Entertainment.
Midas Man is expected to be released theatrically in 2024.
