The Goat Life (Aadujeevitham)
The Goat Life (also titled in Malayalam as Aadujeevitham) is an upcoming Malayalam survival adventure drama film based on the 2008 bestselling Malayalam novel Aadujeevitham by Benyamin, which is based on the real-life incident of an Indian migrant worker, Najeeb Muhammad, who goes to Saudi Arabia to earn money. However, in a twist of fate, he finds himself living a slave-like existence, herding goats in the middle of the desert. Written, directed, and co-produced by Blessy, it stars Prithviraj Sukumaran as Najeeb Muhammad, alongside Amala Paul, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Shobha Mohan.
The film has been in development hell since 2009. Principal photography began on 1 March 2018 with a customary pooja function and ended on 14 July 2022. The film was shot in the deserts of Wadi Rum, Jordan, and the Sahara, Algeria. Some scenes were also shot in Kerala, India. The Goat Life is scheduled to be released theatrically on 28 March 2024.
Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil
Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is an upcoming Malayalam comedy-drama film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Basil Joseph, Yogi Babu, Nikhila Vimal, and Anaswara Rajan. L2: Empuraan
L2: Empuraan is an upcoming Malayalam action crime thriller film directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy. The film is also marketed with the short title L2E by the makers. It is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster film Lucifer. On 18 June 2019, a follow-up to the film titled L2: Empuraan was officially announced by Prithviraj, Mohanlal, Murali, and Antony at a press conference held at Kochi. The success of the first film led to the decision to proceed with the second installment in the series. It was set to begin production in the second half of 2020, but was put on hold indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Prithviraj, “Empuraan” means “more than a King and less than a god” and the literal meaning would be “overlord”. He said Empuraan will not be a continuation of the story seen in Lucifer but will explain what happened before and after Lucifer. Principal photography took place on October 5, 2023, in Faridabad. Subsequent sporadic schedules were conducted at various locations, including the United Kingdom, United States, Mexico, and Russia. L2: Empuraan is expected to be released theatrically in 2024.
