Storyline:
Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi follows the story of a struggling father, Purna Bahadur, who earns a living by playing the sarangi in his village. After being abandoned by his wife due to their poor circumstances, Purna is left to raise his son alone. Despite the hardships, he is determined to provide his son with a better future through education. Released on October 31, 2024, during the Lakshmi Puja, the third day of the Tihar festival in Nepal, the film garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, with particular praise for Bijay Baral’s performance and the emotional depth of the story.
Although the film had a slow start at the box office, it achieved unprecedented success, grossing over रु 8.25 crore in its first week due to strong word of mouth. By the tenth day, it had earned रु 17.98 crore, breaking several records, including the highest single-day gross for a Nepali film at रु 3.89 crore on a Saturday, making it is the highest-grossing films in Nepal.
After two weeks, the film minted रु 27.35 crore at the domestic box office, breaking all major existing records to emerge as the industry hit in Nepal.
