About Saltburn Movie:
Saltburn is a black comedy psychological thriller film written, directed, and co-produced by Emerald Fennell, starring Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, and Archie Madekwe. Saltburn is the second film directed by Emerald Fennell after Promising Young Woman (2020).
Filming began on July 16, 2022. Filming occurred at Drayton House, Northamptonshire.
In a video conversation with Margot Robbie, who was also one of the producers of this film, Carey Mulligan said that the role Emerald Fennell originally offered her was not the one she ended up playing. Mulligan read the script and found she wanted to play a different character, and Fennell agreed to her request to play this other role instead.
It is the third movie in which Rosamund Pike and Carey Mulligan have both appeared; they played sisters in Joe Wright’s “Pride and Prejudice” (2005) and friends in Lone Scherfig’s “An Education (2009).
The film cast includes four Oscar nominees: Richard E. Grant, Barry Keoghan, Carey Mulligan, and Rosamund Pike.
Feature film debut of Alison Oliver.
Saltburn had its world premiere at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2023, and was released in the United Kingdom on November 17, 2023, and in the United States via a limited theatrical release the same day, before expanding wide on November 22. Saltburn received generally positive reviews from critics. Praise was directed toward the film’s aesthetic (particularly its cinematography, production values, score, and costume design), as well as Keoghan, Elordi and Pike’s performances, but the screenplay drew polarized responses.
In its limited opening weekend, the film made $322,651 from seven theaters. Expanding to 1,566 theaters the following Wednesday, the film made $684,000 on its first day of wide release then $301,000 on Thanksgiving Day.
