About Mendirman Jaloliddin TV Series:

Mendirman Jaloliddin (Uzbek Cyrillic: Мендирман Жалолиддин, romanized: Mendirman Zhaloliddin; Turkish: Bozkır Arslanı Celaleddin) is an Uzbek-Turkish television series produced by Mehmet Bozdağ in collaboration with the Uzbek Ministry of Culture and Sports. The series is based on the life of Jalal ad-Din Mingburnu, the last ruler of the Khwarazmian Empire, and features Turkish actor Emre Kıvılcım portraying the titular character.

The television series Mendirman Jaloliddin, produced by Turkish screenwriter Mehmet BozdaÄŸ and directed by Metin Günay, will feature Turkish and Uzbek actors. The series, which will be shot in Uzbekistan and Turkey, will consist of 13 episodes, each lasting one hour. The series is considered a “multi-part film” due to its short screentime.

The production involved collaboration between producers, directors, screenwriters, historians, consultants, artists, art directors, architects, and costume designers. Tough casting included Turkish and Uzbek actors who had to undergo special training for battle scenes, horse riding, and fencing, as well as learning each other’s languages. The digital effects team employed around 500 people, including 200 from Turkey, England, India, and Malaysia.

The BozdaÄŸ Film set in Turkey, built on 30 hectares above the Khorezmshah palace, was designed to resemble a 13th-century palace. The set included streets of Konye-Urgench, residential buildings, and the central market. The desert battle scenes were filmed in Aksaray, 750 km from Istanbul. The film was originally scheduled to premiere in January 2021 but was released in February.

In 2020, Mehmet BozdaÄŸ announced that he had been working on the project since 2018, at the request of the Uzbekistan government. Saida Mirziyoyeva, the deputy chairperson of the board of trustees of the Public Foundation for Support and Development of National Mass Media in Uzbekistan, announced on Twitter that the historical series “Mendirman Jaloliddin” would start airing on Milliy TV channel on February 14, 2021. The series was eventually released on February 14, 2021. The second season of the series began airing in Uzbekistan on January 14, 2023 and is currently being broadcast on the ZoÊ»r TV channel.

The television series gained attention in Pakistan, and with the release of only the first episode, it quickly became popular. Saida Mirziyoyeva praised the series for its great script and acting, and recommended it as a captivating portrayal of the region’s history. She said:
