Storyline:
High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.

The Boogeyman is an American supernatural horror mystery thriller film directed by Rob Savage from a screenplay by Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Mark Heyman. It stars Chris Messina, Vivien Lyra Blair, Sophie Thatcher, Marin Ireland, David Dastmalchian, and Madison Hu.
The film is based on the 1973 short story of the same name by Stephen King. It is produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Dan Levine under the banner of 21 Laps Entertainment. Patrick Jonsson composed the film’s score and Eli Born served as a cinematographer.
Principal photography began in February 2022 in New Orleans. It was originally planned to be released on the streaming service Hulu, but Disney eventually opted for a theatrical release first following positive test screenings.
The Boogeyman was theatrically released in the United States on June 2, 2023, by 20th Century Studios. The film received mixed reviews from critics.
