About The Creator Movie:

Principal photography for the film began in Thailand on January 17, 2022. Filming wrapped on May 30, 2022.

A first look at the film was shown at CinemaCon on April 26, 2023, with Anthony D’Alessandro of Deadline Hollywood praising the production design, saying that it made “Blade Runner look like child’s play.”

The film’s working title was ‘True Love’. It was announced that the title was renamed from True Love to The Creator.

Benedict Wong was originally cast but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. He was replaced by Ken Watanabe.

The film premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 26, 2023. The Creator was theatrically released in the United States on September 29, 2023, by 20th Century Studios. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with many praising its visual effects, direction, performances, and approach to the subject matter, although some criticized the screenplay.

On September 26, 2023, Edwards stated that there were no plans for a sequel, saying “I was like endings, my favorite part of the story is the end. My favorite part of a joke is the punchline. And so I just want it to be this self-contained thing. So I mean, it’s a high-class problem. If someone ever came up and said, ‘We want a sequel.’ That’d be a really good problem to have. But it is not the plan. No.”
