About Movie:
The Crow is an American gothic superhero film directed by Alex Proyas, based on the 1989 comic book series by James O’Barr. Written by David J. Schow and John Shirley, the film stars Brandon Lee in his final role as Eric Draven, a rock musician brought back from the dead to avenge the murders of his fiancée and himself.
During filming, Lee tragically died in an accident involving a prop gun. With most of his scenes already completed, the production was finished through script adjustments, a stunt double, and digital effects. Following Lee’s death, Paramount Pictures withdrew from distributing the film, and Miramax Films acquired the rights. The movie is dedicated to Lee and his fiancée, Eliza Hutton.
The Crow premiered in Santa Monica on May 10, 1994, and was released in U.S. theaters on May 13 by Dimension Films. The film received praise for its dark style and Lee’s performance, grossing $94 million on a $23 million budget. Over time, it developed a cult following and spawned a franchise, including the sequels The Crow: City of Angels (1996), The Crow: Salvation (2000), and The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005). However, none of the sequels, which featured different characters, matched the success of the original. A reboot was released in 2024.
