About Movie:
The Sea Beast is an animated adventure film directed by Chris Williams, who co-wrote the screenplay with Nell Benjamin and produced it alongside Jed Schlanger. The film features the voices of Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste, with supporting roles voiced by Kathy Burke, Jim Carter, Doon Mackichan, and Dan Stevens.
Initially announced by Netflix on November 5, 2018, as Jacob and the Sea Beast, the film, based on Williams’ original story, was later retitled The Sea Beast on November 7, 2020.
Netflix revealed in March 2022 that the film would premiere on July 8, 2022. Before its Netflix debut, The Sea Beast had a limited theatrical release on June 24, 2022.
The film received widespread critical acclaim and became Netflix’s most successful original animated film, amassing 165 million hours viewed within its first five months. It garnered several nominations, including Best Animated Feature at the 95th Academy Awards.
In a January 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Williams announced that he had signed a deal with Netflix and would be working on a sequel to The Sea Beast, following the film’s massive success.
