Storyline:
Based on the bestselling novel by Lisa Taddeo, Three Women follows the journey of writer Gia (Shailene Woodley) as she convinces three women – entrepreneur Sloane, homemaker Lina, and student Maggie – to share their stories.
About Three Women TV Series:
Three Women is an American drama television series starring Shailene Woodley, DeWanda Wise, Betty Gilpin, Gabrielle Creevy, Blair Underwood, and John Patrick Amedori. It is based on the 2019 book of the same name by Lisa Taddeo.
Principal photography for the series began in October 2021, taking place in Long Island, New York. In November 2021, scenes were shot in Schenectady, New York.
In July 2019, Showtime acquired rights to Three Women by Lisa Taddeo. Initially set to premiere on Showtime but on January 30, 2023, Deadline reported that Showtime had decided not to air the completed series. Starz picked up the series a week later.
It is speculated that the reason behind Showtime’s decision to drop airing the series was concerns regarding its graphic sexual content, as the network was going through a content re-evaluation by its parent company Paramount at the time.
All 10 episodes of season one premiered on February 16, 2024, in Australia on Stan.
