Storyline:

Detective Kaniyan Poongundran is on the lookout for a challenging case. His prayers are answered before long, as a kid approaches him to solve his pet’s bizarre death. The dog, a pomeranian, is killed by a 9mm bullet. Poongundran senses that things aren’t as simple as they seem and sets out to investigate with his trusted sidekick Mano in tow.

Thupparivaalan is a Tamil action thriller directed by Mysskin and produced by Vishal, who also stars in the lead role alongside Prasanna. The film features Vinay Rai, Anu Emmanuel (in her Tamil debut), Andrea Jeremiah, and K. Bhagyaraj. Loosely inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective Sherlock Holmes.

The film began production in March 2016 and was released on September 14, 2017.

A sequel titled Thupparivaalan 2 was announced in 2019, with Vishal and Prasanna reprising their roles. It is expected to be released in 2024.
