Storyline:

The film focuses on certain events leading up to the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s (YSR) padayatra, or journey on foot across Andhra Pradesh in 2003. During the journey, YSR learned about the things that concern the people and in turn made the people realize the kind of person he is. We also learn how the 1500 km journey shaped the two-time Chief Minister’s life and his short-lived career.

Yatra (also marketed as YSR: Yatra) is a Telugu biographical historical drama film written and directed by Mahi V Raghav. The film stars Mammootty, Suhasini Maniratnam, and Jagapathi Babu/.
The film is based on the padayatra of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy who served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from May 2004 to June 2009 representing the Indian National Congress.
Principal photography on the film began on June 20, 2018 in Hyderabad.
The first single “Samara Shankham” was released on September 2, 2018, on the anniversary of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s death.
Yatra was released theatrically on February 8, 2019, alongside dubbed versions in Malayalam and Tamil. Despite receiving critical acclaim, the film did not perform commercially
The film collected ₹5 crore in the first five days. The film, which grossed a total of ₹ 28.5 crore worldwide against a budget of ₹12 crore, performed decently at the box office. Its worldwide distributor’s share was ₹ 15.8 crore. Yatra Managed to collect ₹ 1.20 crore at the USA Box Office.
The second part titled Yatra 2 was released on February 8, 2024.
