Young Woman and the Sea Trailer: Daisy Ridley Swims the English Channel in Disney’s Inspiring True Story

In a thrilling new trailer released at CinemaCon, Disney’s upcoming film “Young Woman and the Sea” showcases Daisy Ridley’s portrayal of Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle, the first woman to successfully swim the English Channel. The film, directed by Joachim Rønning and written by Jeff Nathanson, is based on Glenn Stout’s nonfiction book “Young Woman and the Sea: How Trudy Ederle Conquered the English Channel and Inspired the World.”

Ridley, known for her roles in “Star Wars” and “The Force Awakens,” stars as the accomplished swimmer who overcame adversity and societal animosity to achieve her historic feat. The film also features Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Stephen Graham, Kim Bodnia, Christopher Eccleston, and Glenn Fleshler in supporting roles.

“Young Woman and the Sea” is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, and Jeff Nathanson, with executive producers including Ridley and Rønning. The film will be released in select theaters on May 31, 2024.

The trailer received high praise from Bruckheimer, who stated, “This is the highest-tested movie of my career.” The film is a testament to Ederle’s determination and resilience, and is sure to inspire audiences with its powerful storytelling and stunning visuals.
