Nag Ashwin’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Crosses ₹1000 Crore Worldwide

Kalki 2898 AD, the ambitious science fiction epic directed by Nag Ashwin, has achieved a remarkable milestone by crossing the ₹1000 crore mark at the worldwide box office.

The film, which stars a powerhouse ensemble cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani, was released on June 27, 2024, and has captivated audiences across the globe.

In just 15 days of its release, Kalki 2898 AD has managed to gross over ₹1000 crore worldwide, making it the fastest Indian film to achieve this feat in 2024. The film’s pre-release business had already recovered ₹600 crore, with the theatrical rights alone accounting for ₹390 crore.

Kalki 2898 AD’s opening day collection of ₹180 crore worldwide was the third-highest first-day gross for an Indian film, with over ₹95 crore coming from the domestic market. The film went on to earn an estimated ₹484 crore globally in its opening weekend and ₹800 crore in 11 days of release.

The film’s success has been widely celebrated, with industry leaders and fellow filmmakers like Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, and Karthik Subbaraj praising the film’s ambitious vision, performances, and technical achievements. Kalki 2898 AD has now surpassed the lifetime collections of Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter to become the highest-grossing Hindi release of 2024 so far.

While it remains to be seen if Kalki 2898 AD can surpass the lifetime earnings of blockbusters like Dangal, Baahubali: The Conclusion, and KGF: Chapter 2, the film’s remarkable run at the box office has cemented its status as one of the biggest Indian cinematic events of 2024.
