Speak No Evil Trailer: James McAvoy Reunites with Blumhouse

On April 11, 2024, one of the most anticipated movie ‘Speak No Evil‘ trailer, featuring James McAvoy, known for his chilling performance in M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Split’ and its sequel ‘Glass’, is set to star in a remake of the 2022 Danish thriller ‘Speak No Evil’. The original movie, directed by Christian Tafdrup, tells the story of a Danish family visiting a Dutch family they met on a holiday, which takes a dark turn as the Danes try to maintain politeness in the face of unpleasantness. The remake will be directed by James Watkins, known for his work on ‘The Woman in Black’ and ‘Eden Lake’.

The new movie will be based on the screenplay written by Tafdrup and his brother Mads, but with significant thematic changes to cater to American audiences. The original film touches on Eurocentric views on politics, but the remake is expected to draw from the state of American politics, with commentary on fascism.

McAvoy is no stranger to remakes, having starred in 2021’s ‘My Son’, a remake of the 2017 French thriller ‘Mon Garcon’. He recently appeared in the third and final season of ‘His Dark Materials’, as well as in the BBC’s COVID lockdown-set ‘Together’, for which he was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA.

Blumhouse and Universal are confident in the project, with a release date set for August 9th, 2024. The production company has a successful track record, with hits like ‘Paranormal Activity’, ‘Insidious’, ‘Sinister’, ‘The Purge’, ‘Oculus’, ‘Whiplash’, ‘Split’, ‘Get Out’, ‘BlacKkKlansman’, ‘Halloween’, ‘Glass’, ‘Us’, ‘The Invisible Man’, ‘Freaky’, ‘The Black Phone’, and ‘They/Them’.

The movie’s trailer is expected to be a key source of influence, given the public exposure and attention commanded by movie stars. Accurately predicting the audience for a movie can prevent film producers from making common mistakes like producing flops or missing out on potential hits.
