Storyline
The story follows tennis player turned coach Tashi Duncan (Zendaya) who has taken her husband, Art (Mike Faist), and transformed him into a world-famous grand slam champion. To jolt him out of his recent losing streak, she makes him play a “Challenger” event — close to the lowest level of the pro tournament — where he finds himself standing across the net from his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend (Josh O’Connor).

- Principal photography began on May 3, 2022, in Boston, where a casting call took place for local residents to audition to play tennis players, general extras, and stand-ins. Filming ended on June 26, 2022.
- In preparation for her role, Zendaya spent three months training with pro-tennis player-turned-coach Brad Gilbert.
- Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Hunter Schafer, and Sydney Sweeney were considered for the role of Tashi before Zendaya was cast.
- Austin Abrams, Jacob Elordi, and Dominic Fike were considered for the role of Patrick before Josh O’Connor was cast.
- Challengers is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 26, 2024.
