Storyline:

Four friends from a village in Punjab, dream to go to England. But neither do they have any visas nor any tickets. Their lives change when a soldier arrives one day and promises to fulfill their dream. Together, they set out on a perilous journey that tests their courage, their smarts and their ideologies. About Dunki Movie:

Dunki is a Hindi comedy-drama film based on “donkey flight”, an illegal immigration technique. Directed and edited by Rajkumar Hirani from a screenplay he wrote with Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon, it was produced under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios and Rajkumar Hirani Films. It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani.

This film was previously titled “Return Ticket” before the announcement teaser released in April 2022.

The film marks Shahrukh Khan’s first collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani after previous attempts of Munnabhai and 3 Idiots couldn’t be worked out between those two.

Tapsee Pannu’s first film with Shah Rukh Khan’s of Hindi cinema.

This film was also titled “Toss” five years ago since the production started around 2017.

Principal photography began in April 2022 in Mumbai and wrapped up in April 2023. The filming took place in Mumbai, Kashmir, London, Budapest, Jeddah, Neom and Jabalpur.

Cinematographer Amit Roy was chosen first, but he left the film due to creative differences with Hirani and was replaced by C. K. Muraleedharan. This marks his fourth collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani after Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), 3 Idiots, and PK (2014).

Satish Shah’s comeback in Hindi films after a 9-year hiatus. He was last seen in Humshakals in 2014 and web series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai Take 2 in 2017.

The film’s first single titled “Lutt Putt Gaya” was released on 22 November 2023 and the second single titled “Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se” was released on 1 December 2023.The film’s teaser titled “Dunki: Drop 1” was released on 2 November 2023 coinciding with Khan’s 58th birthday. There will be 6 “Drops” and will be released one after the other. Drop 2 was released on 22 November as the song “Lutt Putt Gaya”. Drop 3 was released on 1 December as the song “Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se”.

Dunki was theatrically released on 21 December 2023 by Pen Marudhar Entertainment. The film was rumored to be postponed to 2024, which was denied by Khan during a press conference for Jawan (2023).

International non-theatrical distribution rights for the film were sold for ₹2.30 billion, while domestic non-theatrical streaming rights were acquired by JioCinema for ₹155 crores.

Dunki had the 13th-biggest advance booking of all time for a Hindi film. It had a net collection of ₹28 crores on its opening day.
