Storyline:
Jules’ (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) life and career as a drag queen is destroyed by a homophobic attack. But after a chance encounter with his attacker, the deeply closeted Preston (George Mackay), he is presented with the opportunity to exact revenge. Unrecognizable out of his wig and make-up, Jules infiltrates Preston’s life and in doing so discovers the lines of seduction, revenge, and power are blurred.

About Femme Movie:
The directors decided to recast the roles for the feature, signing Stewart-Jarrett and MacKay. “We wanted to distance the film from the short. There were new characters and a new story,” says Freeman.
It is a feature-length adaptation of their BAFTA-nominated 2021 short film of the same name, starring Paapa Essiedu and Harris Dickinson, which they made as a proof of concept for the long-planned feature.
The film received one of the biggest standing ovations at Berlinale 2023.
In May 2022, it was announced George Mackay and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett would lead the forthcoming feature-length adaptation.
A trailer was released ahead of the film’s Berlinale premiere.
Femme had its world premiere in the Panorama section of the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival on 19 February 2023. In August 2023, Signature Entertainment acquired UK and Ireland distribution rights to the film. It was released in cinemas in the United Kingdom on 1 December 2023.
