About Nayab Movie:

Nayab is a Pakistani sports drama film directed by Umair Nasir Ali and written by Ali Abbas Naqvi and Basit Naqvi. The film stars Yumna Zaidi as Nayab along with Javed Sheikh, M Fawad Khan, Usama Khan, Huma Nawab, and Noreen Gullwani.

It took director Umair Nasir Ali, along with writers Ali Abbas Naqvi and Basit Naqvi, three years and multiple drafts to transform these inspirations into a screenplay.

The film was inspired by various cricket girls in Karachi, Pakistan. Normally a male-friendly game is played in the sub-continent. It is also the first Pakistani film to feature a female protagonist as a professional cricketer.

The film was shot entirely on real and virgin locations which required months of preparation.

Yumna Zaidi’s debut on the silver screen. She practiced rigorously for six months to ace the role of a professional cricketer.

The majority of the cricketing girls featured in the film are actual cricket players. Director Umair Nasir Ali urged the producers of the film to have real cricketers around Yumna Zaidi. All of the girls had their first acting experience.

Nayab was released theatrically in Pakistan on January 26, 2024, by Mandviwalla Entertainment.
