Purple Hearts is an American musical romance film created for Netflix and directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum. It is based on the novel of the same name by Tess Wakefield. It stars Sofia Carson and Nicholas Galitzine.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by Tess Wakefield.

The rights for the film were originally owned by Alloy Entertainment, but Netflix bought the rights from them in August 2021.

Purple Hearts marks the second collaboration between director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum and actor Chosen Jacobs. Their first film was Sneakerella (2022).

It also marks Nicholas Galitzine’s Netflix debut.

Principal photography for the film began in August 2021 and wrapped up in October of the same year. Filming took place in Los Angeles County, San Diego County, Riverside, and Austin, Texas.
